ABOUT US
🪶 Unbridled Sanctuary (US) is a living story -- a place of renewal, a return to slowness, to presence, and to reverence.
Here, horses are heard.
They are respected.
They are deeply understood.
Founded in 2004 by equestrian and advocate Susan Kayne, Unbridled began with a vow: to protect retiring racehorses from slaughter and to offer them the one thing they had never known—a lifelong safety net. A place where, no matter what, they could always come home.
That vow became a mission.
That mission became a movement.
Unbridled is home to more than 65 rescued horses, donkeys, and mules—each living a life of belonging, dignity, and honor.
You’ll meet equines with names, memories, and voices.
You’ll witness stories of grace, healing, and transformation.
You’ll come to know not only what they’ve overcome,
but who they are now—free, flourishing, and fully themselves.
At Unbridled, each horse is a living testament to what becomes possible
when relationship is rooted in respect, and protection is a promise kept for life.
🪶 Unbridled is a threshold—and you’re already at the gate.
Enter a world where horses are heard, honored, and home.
MEET THE HORSES
Every name has a story. Every soul, a voice.

She walks like the world should move…
LOVEY
When Lovey & Bride came to our attention via Facebook on February 28, 2020 we did not know their history or identities. The post read, “Thoroughbred mares, in their early 20’s, in Kill Pen three weeks, shipping AM”. The accompanying picture showed two dispirited horses. They had been entered into the USDA system, yellow barcoded…
